About Us

Founded in 2016 by a coalition of women who understood that survival is not enough without dignity, Positive Proof Women Health Care Empowerment Initiative (POPHWEI) was born out of urgent necessity to create spaces where marginalized women and girls could find safety, sisterhood, and strength.

Rooted deeply in community action, POPWHEI’s work weaves economic empowerment with health advocacy, social inclusion, and grassroots leadership, ensuring no woman is left behind because of stigma, poverty, or systemic neglect.

Through every training session, microenterprise grant, and healing circle, POPWHEI advances a vision of resilience built by women, for women, and with women. Our work is fueled by passion, solidarity, and the unwavering belief that every woman’s life matters — and that true empowerment comes from building systems where women and Youth are not merely surviving, but leading, thriving, and transforming their communities.

Positive Proof Women Health Care Empowerment Initiative (POPWHEI) is a women-led nonprofit organization founded in 2016 to strengthen the rights, health, and economic futures of women living with HIV, women with disabilities, young girls, marginalized youth and children. The membership comprises of people seeking to bring positive change in the society.
